Rising Starz: What or who is your inspiration?
Galaxzi: I think my biggest inspiration is life in general, emotions I’ve felt from situations I’ve been through. I use those emotions, negative and positive, like minor and major chords in music, to write songs.
Rising Starz: What kind of vibe were you hoping to achieve with Ursa Major?
Galaxzi: A fun and catchy get it stuck in your head vibe.
Rising Starz: What is Ursa Major about? Is it about an event that happened to you, a realisation you had, something someone said to you?
Galaxzi: I really love how in Ursa Major I'm making fun of what I went through. So now I laugh about it. But yeah at the time of song inspiration, I was being rejected for who I was. I was told I wasn’t good enough. It was kind of a ridiculous situation so that’s why Ursa Major is fun and humorous. I used outer space metaphors because I felt like an outsider or like an alien.
Rising Starz: If you feel comfortable sharing, who is Katy in Ursa Major?
Galaxzi: That’s a secret! Shh.. haha. But what she represents is that type of negative person who tries to bring you down.
Rising Starz: Can you go into a little detail and explain the story or meaning behind Ursa Major?
Galaxzi: Ursa Major is about being rejected by others for being different and telling those negative people to shut up! And that one day you’ll show them up and be shining like a constellation. I really want this song to empower anyone facing criticism and rejection.
Rising Starz: What’s a random fact about you that you’d like to share with the world?
Galaxzi: I’m from Antarctica. But I live in Orlando now because of the weather.
Rising Starz: What’s something that you’d like to tell the world in general?
Galaxzi: The actions you take, even small ones, can create a ripple effect across the universe.
Rising Starz: Is there anything that you can’t wait to do with your music career?
Galaxzi: I love performing on stage, I can’t wait to sing live.
Rising Starz: During the making of the song Ursa Major, was there anything interesting, funny, or even bad that happened?
Galaxzi: I wrote and recorded Ursa Major on my computer. I was listening to a drum & bass track when suddenly inspiration took over me and I improvised the first draft of the song. When I listened back to the bridge, the ‘’Katy she thinks I’m stupid’’ part, I thought that was really funny and it cracked me up.
Rising Starz: During the making of the music video for Ursa Major, was there anything interesting, funny, or even bad that happened?
Galaxzi: I think it’s kinda crazy that there’s even a music video for Ursa Major in the first place. I never thought I would get an opportunity like that for my first-ever song release. But then I met Mya and we just clicked! We created this music video together. The project morphed from TikToks made in my room to a music video filmed in a studio.
Rising Starz: Will you be releasing more music in the future?
Galaxzi: Yes! Soon..
Rising Starz: I recognise that your name is Galaxzi and your first song is astrology– or galaxy themed. Is it safe to assume that more will be galaxy-like?
Galaxzi: Yeah :) All the songs I’ll be releasing for my first project will be taking place in space.
Rising Starz: Us at Rising Starz really love your voice and vibe. If you’d like to, can you share any one small thing about the type of music or next song you’ll release?
Galaxzi: Awh thank you so much Rising Starz! :) <3 I really loved this interview. The only clue that I can give is to expect the unexpected.
